Open Streets

History
The Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition, now Our Streets Minneapolis, began Open Streets Minneapolis in 2011. An estimated 5,000 people attended the first Open Streets Minneapolis event, re-visioning the space for walking, biking, community building, and play.
In 2017, more than 101,000 people participated in eight Open Streets Minneapolis events. Partner businesses and organizations hosted a total of 807 street spaces along the eight 2017 routes.
Through this incredible growth, Our Streets Minneapolis continues to focus on community at Open Streets Minneapolis. Unlike a more traditional street festival, we aim to fill the street primarily with businesses and organizations and people who live and work within five blocks of each route. We hope to build on this work in 2018 and beyond.
Our St. Clement Campus is within the 5 block area of the Northeast Open Streets route.  For the 1st time we are participating in “Open Streets”. We will have a couple of tents set up on the corner of Central Ave and 24th Ave. NE. Our theme is “Hospitality”. Please stop by and enjoy the comforts of our hospitality tent. We will provide you with a cold drink and a snack, and of course, some fun.

If you are interested in volunteering and extending hospitably to the Northeast community, please call Mary-Clare Bates @ 612-788-4526
