Discovering Franciscans

Kolbe Hall | 6:30PM - 8:30PM (Dates Below)

Why Saint Francis?

Saint Francis of Assisi has captured the hearts of believers and non-believers alike throughout the centuries. What is it about this little poor man, this poverello, that inspires such devotion, admiration, and love? Was it his preaching to the birds? Was it his love of the created world? Or, was it his dedication to Lady Poverty?

Over the course of this four-part series, we will look at the lives of four Saints of the Franciscan Order:

April 8th: St. Anthony of Padua

June 10th: St. Elizabeth of Hungary

August 5th: St. Clare of Assisi

September 30th: St. Francis of Assisi

Come and learn how St. Anthony of Padua went from an unknown, lowly friar to a renowned preacher and Doctor of the Church; how St. Elizabeth of Hungary heard of Francis and decided to divest her wealth so that she could build hospitals for the poor; how St. Clare abandoned her high nobility to become a poor nun and Foundress of the Poor Clares; and how St. Francis of Assisi went from a spoiled, rich man to the creator of the Nativity Scene and the first person to bear the wounds of Christ.
